MARIO YACOUB

“I am a semi-retired Concept Architect living in Chertsey since 1998.

I worked at Broadway Malyan Architects, an International studio for 30 years.

For the last 7 years I was a Design Director and was involved in design competitions, building designs, large scale masterplans and housing schemes in the UK and all over the world.

Many of my projects, as well as by others, benefitted from my skills as an architectural illustrator.

I am a member of the Society of Architectural Illustrators where over a hundred of my illustrations can be viewed

Whilst I always enjoyed drawing, I never really got to practice painting as the colour work on my ink line drawings was done in Adobe Photoshop. This was necessary as it allowed me to make alterations easily due to design changes or client instructions.

I can now express myself more freely with watercolours or soft pastels, unshackled by deadlines and choice of subject.

Looking back at my current body of work I believe my signature style is a certain unslavish precision, quality of light and interesting subjects and compositions.”
